About Okanda

The name Okanda is borrowed from the Native American language “Lakota”
and means “to ask for a seat”.

Okanda is an E-Commerce service provider for the meeting market
and partner for all suppliers of meeting rooms.

Okanda, which is based in Cologne, Germany was founded in 2014 by Dirk Führer, an expert from the hotel industry.

Before founding Okanda, Dirk Fuehrer was Chief Commercial Officer at the Steigenberger Hotel Group and was responsible for sales, marketing, ecommerce and revenue & distribution. During his career he passed well known hotel chains such as Starwood Hotels & Resorts, The Rezidor Hotel Group and Hilton Worldwide, all of them in leading positions.

He also volunteered in the board of the German Convention Bureau, the examination board of the IFH as well as in the expert board of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association.

Okanda is focused on small and medium-sized meetings as smaller rooms usually have an occupancy of less than 40%. This is where Okanda steps in.
